Shared Education: Celebration Day
It was a fantastic morning at our Shared Education Celebration Day, bringing to an end a wonderful year of partnership and friendship for our Primary 1 and Primary 7 pupils from Killyman and Laghey Primary Schools. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a range of fun activities led by KMQ Multisport, and it was great to see the strong friendships and positive connections that have developed throughout the year. We also had a visit from the ice cream van, along with sweet cones and juice at the end of the event — a lovely way to celebrate all that has been achieved together.
Shared Education - Killyman PS & Laghey PS
Pupils from Killyman PS and Laghey PS enjoyed their final Shared Education session together, once again hosted by Laghey and led by Sentinus. During the session, pupils used the Makeblock program to input code, enabling their mBots to navigate their way along a road, developing both their coding and problem-solving skills. We’re now looking forward to our Celebration Day, where we’ll mark our Shared Education journey alongside the Primary 1 classes from both schools.
Shared Education – Killyman PS & Laghey PS
Shared Education resumed for Term 3 at Laghey Primary School with a focus on “Take Notice.” Pupils enjoyed a Relax Kids workshop, learning simple ways to manage big feelings, build resilience and support their wellbeing - an excellent start to the term.
Shared Education – Killyman PS & Laghey PS
Our latest Shared Education session at Killyman Primary School focused on the theme “Give.” We were delighted to welcome Tanya from Clayful Minds, who led a clay modelling workshop with an Easter theme. Pupils created thoughtful clay gifts for someone special to them, all while developing creativity, positive wellbeing, and friendship in a fun and relaxed environment. We look forward to our final Shared Education sessions after Easter!
Shared Education - Killyman PS & Laghey PS
Pupils from Killyman Primary School and Laghey Primary School enjoyed a brilliant Shared Education workshop led by Sentinus, where they worked together to design and code their own games using BBC Microbits. The boys and girls showed great teamwork and strong ICT skills as they programmed, debugged and tested their creations. Our sixth session together was a highly engaging one that helped strengthen digital skills and develop positive relationships between both schools.
Shared Education - Killyman PS & Laghey PS
P7 pupils enjoyed their fifth Shared Education session with Laghey PS. Our theme was “Take Notice” from the Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing. Pupils took part in two workshops — a mental health session exploring social media and anxiety, and a creative watercolour art workshop inspired by Impressionism. A big thank you to Burns Skills School for delivering two excellent workshops. We’re looking forward to our next Shared Education session together.
Time Steps - Titanic Workshop
P7 had a great time working with Time Steps during our Titanic workshop. We learned about what life was like in 1912, heard interesting stories about passengers, and looked at old photos. We also took part in a fun ship-building STEM challenge.
Sentinus Digital Creative Learning Programme
Primary 7 enjoyed an exciting visit from Ruairi at Sentinus as part of the Mid Ulster Council’s Digital Creative Learning Programme. Pupils showcased their coding skills with Micro:bits and learned new techniques while creating an Inside Out–themed arcade game using Microsoft MakeCode Arcade. They loved downloading their games onto Kitronik Arcade controllers and playing their own creations. A fantastic afternoon of hands-on digital learning!
Shared Education - Killyman PS & Laghey PS
P7 pupils enjoyed their fourth Shared Education session with Laghey PS at Dungannon Leisure Centre. The "Be Active" theme brought plenty of fun, teamwork and growing friendships. A big thank you to KMQ Multisport for another fantastic morning! We're excited for more sessions in Terms 2 and 3.
Shared Education – Killyman PS & Laghey PS
P7 enjoyed a fun-filled morning at Dungannon Leisure Centre for their third Shared Education session with Laghey PS. Led by KMQ Multisport, pupils took part in energetic games and activities, showing great teamwork and enthusiasm throughout.
Shared Education – Killyman PS & Laghey PS
In our second Shared Education session, pupils again explored the theme of "Connect" by creating hexagonal designs inspired by the Giant's Causeway, taking on the Paper Chain and Paper Cup STEM Challenges, and enjoying shared snack and playtime. A great day of learning and friendship!
Shared Education - Killyman PS & Laghey PS
The theme for our first session was "Connect", with pupils spending time getting to know one another. They worked in groups to design a shared flag, enjoyed playing together outside at break time, and took part in a fun STEM Challenge using spaghetti and marshmallows.
Dominoes
P7 enjoyed playing maths games with dominoes. We will be using dominoes in our mental maths lessons to help improve our thinking and calculative skills.
